I’m allergic to my allergy medicine!

I can’t believe it.  I have developed an allergy to my allergy medication and now, I’m a sniffling mess.  I could see it coming.  I’ve been suspicious that this might be happening for about a month, now.  Yesterday, I confirmed it.  I was feeling pretty good and I took my allergy medicine (Loratadine) and not 15 minutes had gone by before I was suffering badly with a severe allergic reaction (very runny nose, itchy throat and ears, swollen lips, eyes, and nose).  I feel very frustrated because without the medication, I am very often in the same condition from the allergens in my home and outside.

I think I will be able to deal with the allergies by just trying to avoid the allergens in the first place.  I’ll clean my home better, get rid of all the dust, change my sheets more often, mop my floors more often, clean out the window sills, etc.

The thing I’m most worried about is my singing.  I want to sing and it’s been difficult to do with the sniffles this month.  I’m hoping that the medicine was most of the problem and that without it, I’ll just clear up and be much better.  Time will tell.

  1. My natural doc suggests Quercitin for allergies. It is all natural and a form of vitamin c, actually found in the meaty part of oranges, grapefruits. Get it at your Whole Foods and take up to 4, 4 times a day as needed for symptoms!
I became allergic to my gel nails and that wasn’t a pretty sight! :-)
    Hope you feel better!
